As many of you know, I have ghost installed on my GRY, and it gives me lots of peace of mind, with the minor inconvenience of having to press a few more buttons before lift off.

It does mean I get to keep the convenience of keyless entry and start, without the associated security concerns.
 
I've done 4,500 miles in the GRY now (still love it), and 4,400 of them must be with ghost installed.

People had asked what happens when you stall it, do you need to put your code in again to start it. The answer to that is no (and I purposely stalled it to test), as ghost remembers you've disabled it to drive and you can restart the car as normal if it's stalled.

But what I hadn't realised, and only discovered more recently (whilst waiting for a friend to collect a take-away curry) is that if you press the stop/start button to kill the engine, you can restart it again without putting the code in. Not sure if it's a time-based thing, or if opening the door re-arms it, but I'd assumed that once the ignition was switched off, the Ghost code would be needed before you could restart the engine.

(the power-cycle when pressing the start/stop button is still daft in thy GRY though, so if you're on a call and reach your destination, killing the engine also ends the call unless you disconnect your phone from the car first 🤦‍♂️)
 
Not sure what the time limit is (thought it was 30 seconds), but for example filling the car with petrol at Shell when using the app, so not locking the car, it is active again by the time it comes to restart.

I won't fill this thread with my Ghost woes. Putting my issues to one side, it's great as a concept, and as I leave my car parked outdoors in a city it is reassuring to know that my car will be where I left it, unless it's been towed away. It doesn't slow down the start up procedure too much, although I always manage to put the code in too quickly first time and need to be a bit more patient!

I'm still hopeful it can be made to work reliably on my car.

Is the 30 seconds time limit in the documentation anywhere, as I've not come across that before?

I'm pretty sure I was sat for a good 5 minutes plus and the car restarted when I pressed the button without re-entering the code. I keep meaning to do some testing, but then forget and end up driving the car instead 😂

It says 3 seconds in the manual (that I found online), and 30 seconds for VAG vehicles.

Mine definitely hadn't re-armed after switching the engine off and not opening the door for a good few minutes.
 
Mine seems to re-arm very quickly after stopping. Haven't timed it, but will give it a go. Reckon I can count to 3 without a stop watch. Could be an idea to try different times and see what yours is.
