Hi Peeps

This has probably been covered elsewhere but I couldn't find it.

Did anyone really follow the totally incomprehensible fitting instructions for this thing?

I was going to fit this today after my car had been detailed. I gave up.

Admittedly I have zero patience and I hate car DIY. If I just cleaned the glass and lined it up and pressed it on....surely that's all there is to this?

Any advice or shared experiences would be welcome please 🙏

Thanks GR eers 😎

Basically, you are correct. Clean the glass, line up the centre notches, make sure the ‘margin’ is equal along the bottom and the sides (use masking tape to keep in place as required), pick off a bit of the 3M covering and fold 90 degrees to make grabbing tabs, then pull out the rest of the 3M protective layer whilst pressing down with a soft cloth.
Don’t go crazy with that supplied cleaning solution as it’ll stain the glass, clean just the area you need. Once the 3M grabs that’s it, there’s no going back! Measure twice, press once 😉

You're welcome. The instruction document (albeit in Japanese) does handily illustrate the centre 'notch' on the Aero to be aligned with the centre marking on the rear windscreen, which is not something you'll see unless you look very closely and makes for a good starting point. Again I say, "Measure twice, Press once!" ;)

Noted 👌 Thanks again. A job for another day when I am wide awake 😳

I still can’t get my head around how much this thing costs. It’s such a basic piece of plastic. The ducktail is far better value for money for what you get.
That's GR tax for you! You can get knock off versions, I don't know how easy it is to get them over to the UK.

Cheapy cheap

To be honest, I don't know why it doesn't come with the car, auto-folding mirrors, and bonnet gas struts.

Don't get me started on inbuilt alarm. 🙄

I like the look of this piece of kit and have been checking out where to get it and costs. I have found two sites in Japan, Japan Parts and RHD who both cost it at around £100 plus shipping. Has anyone sourced from there and can I expect to pay any duty or additional tax?
