GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Long reach screwdriver arrived so adjusted my slightly too high headlights - super easy to do and there's even guides on the adjustment cogs to help the screwdriver. Only confusion was it's the cogs that need to go clockwise to raise, anti-clockwise to lower, not the screwdriver :p
Good to know as I keep thinking mine are too low.

How many turns did you settle on (or top beam height, measured from a certain distance from front of car to a wall)? I need to do mine too.

My answer won't be relevant since my lights will have been in a different starting position to yours. I moved them all down a bit - either 360 or 540 degrees of screwdriver turning.

In for 20k service, lovely chat with the manager. Nabbed their pov spec C3 for the day, very roomy but not an ounce of power anywhere to be seen.

Interestingly got a survey request from "Talk to Toyota" in the inbox last night cold, will fill it out shortly. Wonder why they're surveying again, seems to ask a lot of questions about buying online.

Did the car have the full 20k spec service in the end?

Are there some items that are due only at mileage, rather than time intervals then?

Undertook the latest survey today, defo biased to the online experience so it got a low score and suitable feedback to back it up. They are going to follow up with some people over the phone, said happy to be one of them if they would like to discuss further.

Had a knock on the door early this morning, rousing me from my slumber.

It was a neighbour from down the road, who had heard a car alarm going off nearby and wanted to check my car was OK because it's a "fancy car".

I didn't have the heart to tell him.

I thanked him profusely and bid him a good day.

(I didn't hear a thing by the way - I generally sleep like a log*.)

*As an aside, I've never understood or liked the phrase "sleep like a baby". What, wake up every hour, scream the place down, and shit yerself?

Visited and booked the GR86 into a local bodyshop to have the Ducktail Spoiler resprayed after my faux-pas with removing the ‘protective’ PPF.
Prior to driving up there I discovered two pieces of roof ridge tile sitting in the wiper gulley! Obviously debris from the recent winds; resulting in a minor scuff on the windscreen and two shallow dinks on the bonnet. Not easily seen unless you catch the light properly, which the photo below does quite dramatically!
Thankfully the bodyshop has a PDR guy coming across on Friday, so he’s gonna take a look and massage them out. I probably could have left them, but once you know they're there it becomes a job to avoid looking at them... I’ll probably have to heat the PPF afterwards and see if I can get it to heal: Saved the paintwork again though! Good Job.
That said, an extra expense I could have done without… 😠

After living with the ebay duck tail for a while, would you recommend it? I keep hovering over the buy button on the black version.

New exhaust finally arrived from Japan! Ordered the Greddy Comfort Sport back box as an alternative to the HKS Legamax Premium as it was a little cheaper and I liked the look.

I’ve had the remark axle back on since July and as fun as it is, it’s a bit much for some of the early starts I’ve been doing heading to the airport!

Today is a remarkable day in the life of my GR86. Since I got the car my subconscious mind registered some "movements" or in other words something like "reeling" I didn't like (e.g. no perfect directional stability, indifferent handling on undulating roads, no "clarity" on steering inputs etc.). This is a list of countermeasurements I have done over the last year and now I think I got a status I'm pretty happy with. I can run at maximum possible speed on Autobahn without getting sweat on my forehead, any reactions of my GR86 are forseeable, the resuts of any steering input are clear:

Front axle:
- Bilstein B14
- Steering Rack Lockdown from Perrin
- Pedders Offset Strut Mounts (PED-580069)

Rear axle:
- Bilstein B14
- J-Sports spoiler
- Power-Flex bushes according to their pic on the web page: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
- Control arm lower-outer bush kit
- Subframe to Chassis void fillers

I would have tried the parts from strongflex.eu (they are freshly on the market with parts for the GR86), but they were too late ;-)

Bye for now Fred
