GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Found another GR86 in the wild for the first time (well found for long enough to park up, get a photo do some shopping and then say hello) I‘ve seen some others driving around Warwickshire so only fleetingly crossing paths.

Hello Jamie, was nice to meet you 👋

It's not "What did you do with your GR86 today" for me, more "What haven't you done with your GR86"

I managed to break my ankle, bad enough to require surgery (with screws and associated plates). I'm currently sitting on the settee looking outside to the drive at a dirty undriven GR86, with my right leg in a knee length cast. I've no idea when I'm going to be able to drive again. I have a hospital appointment on the 18th to remove this cast and the operation stitches and will see the next steps from there.
Most galling, is I didn't have chance to fit my new winter wheels before this happened and therefore haven't got the original alloys off to change their colour . . .
Happy Christmas . . . 🎄

Sympathies from someone who did similar 2 1/2 years ago, together with the titanium & funky corded paper tie thing holding my ankle together!

Be strict with the rehab exercises, and get a set of resistance bands to bring the muscles back online when you're out of cast. It's painful & laborious, but absolutely worth the effort.

That sucks man :( I lost 3 months of mobility this year due to an injury. It all seems like doom and gloom now, but you'll get through it. On the bright side, at least you've done it at the time of year when the weather is crap.

New exhaust tip covers fitted today. Was never a big fan of the burnt titanium, and didn't feel it matched the car very well; but carbon wasn't available when I ordered.

To be blunt, HKS are taking the piss with the price of these, so I never bothered changing them. But Tegiwa had a 20% Black Friday sale, and I was feeling spendy, so I grabbed some. Still stupidly expensive for what they are. They do look and feel like genuine carbon fibre though, so at least I can say I've shaved a fraction of a gram over the titanium ones.

Also washed the car. Don't know why, no point at this time of year really. Found a rather large stone chip on the bonnet down to the metal :/ Have filled it with Chipex, but the colour match isn't great, it's noticeably paler. I wonder if it will darken a little after a while. If not, I'll try going over it with the blue pigment T-Cut I've used before. Better than nothing though.

Lovely mild (but drizzly) day so I made the most of the barmy temperatures: De-bagged and prepped the Bola FLE Summer Wheels using Infinity Wax ‘Synergy Prep’, then gave them all a good 2yr Ceramic Coating with Pure Definition ‘Ceramic Wheel Guard’. Now bagged up again to await next year’s Summer season.

Hang on...didn't you put the car away under a cover for the winter?
You take the wheels off to go into hibernation....then put the OEM wheels back on the car....which also goes into hibernation?

To a degree yes, but it was a little bit of a longer timeline than that 😋: Due to the low temperatures up here, my Winter wheels went on at the beginning of September and the car itself didn’t go underneath a cover until November, so the OEM set did see a bit of driving action before bedtime. They’ll also be out early February for the service, when it’ll likely be even colder! 🥶 Next year I’m maybe gonna pay for storage, SORN it and push the Warranty Service date out to late March so the weather is better 😆

That's quite the commitment. I like to keep my car in good nick but I can't imagine going through all that effort. I get tired just kneeling down to to check my tyre pressures!

Santas sleigh has been busy up the down country seeing family and dropping off presents. The ride quality is very choppy in this colder weather, 2.7bar warm tyre pressure would explain some of it, so I’ve dropped them down to 2.1bar. If I wasn’t looking at getting a second car next year I’d definitely have stuck on some chunky mudflaps, 17” all seasons tyre with cushy sidewalls.
