GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

IMG_2494.jpeg

Finally got my Evo Corse Gr. A in 7*17 ET 35 homologated. They are wrapped in Cup 2’ in 205/50. Can’t wait till spring….

Please don't tell me that's a person Phil.
Oh. I sure hope it‘s not a person. 😅 but i will check as soon as it arrives. 😁

It looks like some seriously expensive upgrades or Santa has come early
It wasn‘t even that expensive. 😅 But i will talk about that in a video, as soon as i have it here. 😃

Removed the broken front bumper and broken plastic bits, took out the fog lights and covers, cut off a section to take along for colour match, new bumper is going to the body shop Monday for painting, should have it back by Thursday,

probably won't have time, or daylight, to assemble the bumper grill ect. till next weekend, then hopefully have a drive, it's been too long 😩

Drove 250km trip to club celebrations - road quite icey and slippery, thanks to salt + wind.
Switched to normal mode on highway & commuting as started getting bored of constant oversteer in accelerations - with normal mode car pulls straight in acceleration.
Took 2.5 years to start using normal mode, so maybe Toyota engineers were correct eventually..

Also correct for making the normal-mode one a large push button, ie easier to use in an emergency.

Me too, I had 4 cars with A plan and been with just them for years but this year I've ended up moving 3 of the 4 cars elsewhere, now just have the GR left with them with a renewal due in about March I think.

Please share, if you feel comfortable, which insurers offered you a better deal.

Lots of GRYs with A-Plan and I wonder if their name change also means changes to pricing, etc.

And many GRYs also getting modifications makes the pool of potential insurers smaller. Unless we're talking about Volkswagen tyres on Pirelli cars, where RAC insurance may offer special deals, apparently, @Dav1d 🙃:

Just taken delivery of a space saver spare wheel, jack and wheel brace. My theory being, if I've got one I will never need it. Also filling the tyre with that gunk Toyota supplies renders the tyre unrepairable, so would need to buy a new tyre anyway. So spending £70.00 on the spare wheel would save me £100.00 if I ever get a puncture. Just got to find somewhere in the car to put the bloody thing. May add a wheel carrier on the boot LOL

I've been looking at insurance cost due to a possible change in job location. My car is a standard GR CP. My current policy is for 6000 miles, fully comp, social and commuting. This cost is £350.00 with a total excess of £800.00 but includes personal accident and courtesy car. Changing my insurance to 12,000 miles and business use takes me to a total sum of £550.00. The company that offered this price was Co op via comparethemarket. There are good deals out there if you shop around

Completely lost my front-aft shift and remained stuck in 1st. Extremely lucky it happened just when arriving at my driveway, don't want to think about worst case...

Found this:

Foresight short shifter pin has unthreaded itself. That restores some faith in my senses as the last weeks I increasingly wondered what happened to my shift feel, but couldn't find a reason why it would deteriorate so put it down to getting used to it. Guess my senses were right after all and the wiggle must have increased as it became unthreaded more and more.

To be fair, I'm since a few months using solid shift bushings and that must have made the load case worse. Still, check up on that shortshift if you have one. Screws and pins can come loose on this one.... (had loctited the screws before, didn't consider the pin could do the same trick...)

Opened a letter from Toyota... Which had my log book in it. I guess that explains why when I did my little check to find the stamp I couldn't find it.

Then promptly forgot all about it apparently

Do the 6 month services get stamped? I checked mine and they didn’t stamp, but have now moved away from that dealer so may need to go back for one annoyingly. (12 month did get a stamp but that was done at good old Macclesfield).

No stamps for 6 months but it shows up on the My Toyota app as a repair for some strange reason!

I had a nice run over to Collins on Wednesday. I ended up getting Mongoose GPF delete pipe with a resonator fitted while I was there to my C-Tec exhaust, along with the map to suit my MST induction.

The drive back was great and the difference in torque and power is noticeable, particularly after around 3800 rpm, the iMT still works and I was provided with a copy of the 3rd gear WOT values. The car now sounds a bit raw, but I only do around 20 miles a day in it, so it's OK for my daily and weekend use.

I did notice the rear registration plate was vibrating like mad, so I removed it and cleaned up the adhesive with a caramel wheel and put a lot more adhesive sponge tape on it. I do have a secondary rattle now and that seems to be the cover for the rear tow hook, so I will have a look at that over the weekend.

Happy GRing !
