Got an irreparable puncture on the factory ps4, anyone changed the tyres for something else as I’ve not been overly impressed with them and don't fancy paying £170 for one, currenty tempted by a pair of toyo proxes sport if anyone has experience with those?

I'd be tempted by Yoko V105S, V107 or Conti sport 5's. I like the PS4's but they make a racket.

215 width is an odd size so it makes tyre replacement expensive unfortunately. 225s will be cheaper.

I've been looking at 225/35s and not seeing much difference, didn't realise you could stay with a 40 profile and still be within spec. lots more options there

I've gone for V107 in 225 and they're really impressive, feel a bit like the v105 I had before on the gt86 but up a level in terms of grip, wet ain't too bad either.

I would say though - ps4 imo are quiet. As you venture into stiffer sidewall tyres (ps4 are soft) you do gain some road noise, but the tradeoff is better feedback.

If you wanted something a bit more chill you could go something like premium contact 7, or equally Pilot Sport 5 I hear are much like the ps4's in terms of characteristics.

If I was changing, I would be going for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 Tyres. Then was an offer on at National Tyres only last week for 225/40 18, £350 fitted for 4! Unfortunately offer has expired now.

I just ordered a set of 225/40ZR18 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports for my new wheels for £399 fitted from Costco. Not quite as bargainous as the above but then the tyre is one rung up too.

Not much in it. One thing to bear in mind though is that you speedo will be out slightly so will show a bit slower. Ie Speedo 30mph Actual speed 32 (just approx figure)
Your Speedo generally reads 2mph faster anyway on standard tyres because the manufacturers build it in for error fluctuations.

Get ready for Costco to refuse to fit them because they’re not OEM size. They’re utter jobsworth pains.

Hmm, that doesn’t sound great but they’re also not going on OEM wheels fitted to the car so how do they know what’s right or not?

Even Indy garages can be funny sometimes. A normally very chill place near me got funny about me asking them to use Motul RBF600 supplied by me.

I’ll report back next week!

Oh god, what’s your experience?
Damaged the sills on my grandad’s Smart car lifting it incorrectly - I eventually managed to claim the cost of repair back from them, but only after having to chase repeatedly.

They refused to fit a different size tyre to a Micra I had, despite the size I was requesting being fitted already with no issues.

To top it all off, they’ve a couple of members of staff there who are incredibly rude.

That's a good price for the supersport indeed. Like you said it's a rung up on the F1 Asy 6 and there I think lies the issue.

I wouldn't be too comfortable running them all year round (south of England, so don't really need to change for winter) whilst the F1 Asy 6 is a better alternative to the factory fit Michelin PS4, which you could use all year round.

Yeah, Costco can be a right PITA when it comes to fitting. However the boys are Watford were nothing more than helpful, with one of the staff who works as a fitter being a right JDM Petrol head! They were more than happy to fit the Bridgestone race tyres I bought onto loose wheels I dropped off.

Maybe I should switch to Watford then if I can.

Not too worried about winter use (they’re still A rated in the wet) but will likely stick some crossclimates on the original wheels for the cold months.

That’s good to know!

If you you know anyone that can fit and balance the tyres for you, have a look at ordering from camskill. theyre VERY cheap.
