The stage 1 base package running at 5psi of boost increases the power output to over 340HP and 300LB FT of torque.

Wow, You're on the ball. I was looking at the website last night and it was still not uploaded. No doubt I'll be getting an email or phone call from Mike soon asking if I want to book in to upgrade my N/A package.

It certainly looks interesting. My only concern is the wording lower down the page that states "Please note, this product removes at least one of the catalytic converters and therefore we must advise is for off-road use only". Does that pertain to both Stage 1 and Stage 2 kits do you think?

Yes it'll remove the catalytic converter on both the Stage 1 and Stage 2 packages, even their N/A package states the same.
This will apply to 95% of all turbo kits on the market and the majority of N/A packages. Fensport also apply that disclaimer on their AVO and HKS turbo kits, along with their N/A kits.

If you want to retain the catalytic converters whilst adding power, a supercharger is the way to go.

Is anyone thinking of going FI on their car? Given that a turbo is available both here, and at Fensport, it appears the wait is now over for anyone seriously considering it.

Personally I'd really like jump straight in, and I could release money to have it done, but my first child is due this weekend, so I'm trying to do the responsible thing and wait...

Kids do like choo-choo noises though.

I can't see any of the turbo kits being a viable option for most owners here as they aren't road legal. Superchargers are the way to go.

It is a concern for me as well, however there are options for mid pipes that should get through an emissions test. But it needs to be considered of as part of the cost if the car is to pass an MOT.

If every single MOT test was carried out to the letter of the law then no cars with sports Cats or EGR blanks would ever pass, yet they have been passing MOTs for years, usually so long as they pass the emissions test it'll pass.

It would be a lot easier if a suitable front pipe was offered as part of the kit.

Fensport do the AVO pipe which has a 5 inch diameter cat, which would be great for flow, but this is only 160 cell count IIRC. not sure this would be enough on its own.

From my research of Gen 1 cars, the Berk front pipe (2.5 inch with 200 cell high flow cat) is the one that people claim passed the MOT reliably. Berk had a similar reputation when I was in the 350Z community so that makes sense to me.

It's over 400 quid though.

Other options are getting a custom front pipe made, which could include a GPF as well, but the resulting front pipe would probably cost over a grand.
 
I didn't realise this but despite the car being fitted with a GPF, particulates aren't measured for petrol engines in an MOT. In theory you could just get away with a catted front pipe. The GPF needs to be visibly present for an MOT, which the cat could easily be mistaken for. Obviously still not legal but it would pass on those grounds.

Yeah, that's basically what I was eluding to. I actually read the emissions part of the MOT criteria yesterday, and it seems that every petrol car in the past few decades has the same criteria to meet. I thought it might have changed for newer cars which had to meet newer euro regs, but apparently not.

I guess someone that doesn't mind doing it could put a US spec, or a gen 1 front pipe in for testing times. I'd rather have a fit and forget solution though.
 
Sounds like you did what I did. I thought with it being Euro 6 it's gets more stringent, but apparently not! US spec front pipe would be a good call.
 
No they are the same as far as I'm aware, it's just European cars with the GPF. I only said US as thats all that came to mind.

My car will be due it's second service soon. Very tempted to get this done at the same time.

I have the funds available. It's just a case of talking myself in / out of it. HELP! :eek: I think the time of year has a lot to do with my hesitation.

Regarding getting it through an MOT in a years time, the best option I can see is to get a used gen1 front pipe for MOT time.

Why a gen 1 front pipe? Dont forget our front pipes have a couple of pressure sensor pipes which the Gen 1's don't have.
