Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but I couldn’t find any info using the search function..

Two weeks in I’ve noticed that the leather on the steering wheel on the bends where your thumbs sit is really creased where they’ve not taken care or prepped the leather when stretching the cover.

There’s also a small split / nick on my handbrake lever grip that I’m going to flag up to the dealer.

Question, if I also mention the steering wheel creases and get them to replace the wheel will the new one be just the same?

Am I being picky or are the creases a factor because of the price of the car?

Post a pic for comparison?

I’d have to go and look at mine but I suspect it’s got more wrinkles than an octogenarians “coin purse”.

Unless it’s got extreme ripples or signs of tearing I think I’ll be inclined to file it under the not worth having a pitched battle over.

Thanks for the replies.. Not worth mentioning I guess.. I’ll raise concerns about the handbrake grip and drop the steering wheel into the conversation and see how it goes..

I guess I'll be borrowing the wife's equine saddle cream again, to give the wheel a good ol' nourishing. At least it won't take as much as my motorcycles leathers did - SWMBO blew a gasket when she came to do some horse show prep and found the tub almost empty. I learned a lesson there too; it takes roughly 10 minutes to regain consciouness after one of her right hooks :ROFLMAO:

My girlfriend is also a horsist. Completely forgot that means she has a load of saddle care stuff. Might give it a try. I'm just usually a little worried about applying products to steering wheels in case they make it too slippery.

I've got a dainese pack that came with some leathers years ago... Forgot all about it... I'll give it a go with that

You see, sometimes my bletherings can induce cognitive recall!
Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around my eyes, look into my eyes, you're under.... 👀

My condolences. Keeping lumbering, stupid, mobile lasagne meat fed watered and housed is up there with having to settle Oliver Reeds bar tab!
Indeed. But it's her money, and her passion, so apart from being asked to do the occasional odd job to hang something in the stable, it doesn't really impact me.

What it does mean is that I can pretty much justify any extravagant purchase, because everything pales in comparison to horse ownership. She gasped when I told her how much I'd spent getting my car detailed, until I asked her to remind me how much her horse had cost her that month.

Thread bump. Gave the interior a clean today and decided to go over all the leather with AutoGlym Leather Balm. I put it on the steering wheel too, paying particular attention to these creases, and I'm sure it made them fade a bit. Will try and get a pic later. Perhaps the key is just keep the leather conditioned so it stays supple.

I noticed after a track day these have appeared on mine... I thoguht I'd got away with it!

I'd be interested hear what potions work, - my fear is making it all go shiny, or dulling the white stitching.

Is it actually real leather? (same question goes for the seats)
