We'll soon have a little spaniel joining the family and I'd like to know if anyone's got recommendations for rear seat covers for their gr86 to protect them from dog hair / mud / slobber? 🐶

It'll be the occasional trip as we have another car for main pooch duties. Would probably fold anything up into the rear footwell when not in use.
Any ideas?

I'm not sure that you'll find very much that's GR86 specific as the market is so narrow. You might be as well trying something like one of those rear seat hammocks, that fits between the seats and is secured using straps around both the front and rear headrests; of course without adjustable rear headrests in the GR86, you may have to modify it a little to use the baby seat connection points in the rear parcel shelf. Other than that, it's probably waterproof dog blankets and liners

Thanks, yes realise there won't be anything specific to this car - just looking for ideas of what others might have used. Will check out the hammock thing, cheers!

I haven't found anything specific since I've had mine. I've resorted to just pressing towels into the gaps around the seats. The plus thing about this car with our dog is he can't get himself into the rear footwells which is always did in my last car as he doesn't enjoy the car.

I use one of these for my Shiba. Once I find the photos of him in it I'll post them up. It's the closest thing I could find that was suitable. It clips to the headrests and the boot clips with seats down.

I have a boot liner from Amazon. Admittedly my lad is 47kg, so I have to drop the back seats down to give him sufficient room rather than sitting him on them.

I then use a short lead and attach that to the seat fixing points that become accessible with the seats dropped.

I’ve got a lab, although not heavy, at 26kg is quite tall and lanky. What I found with putting the back seat down was that we were losing too much head height. (Also thought that the two latches sticking out on either side were looking a bit like a ‘poke in the rib’ type hazard?)
What we have done is: fill the hollows of the rear seats with pillows; generic back seat cover over this; a plank of wood over this to give a stable base and all covered with a large piece of vet bed.
He’s then got a travel harness fixed to one of the top isofix mounts.
Found he really enjoys traveling in it, head between the front seats looking at where we’re going.

I have a generic amazon one, attaches to the headrest in the front and I’ve got some bungee ties on the top tether points to hold it up, worst bit is the getting in and out part, have a few sill scratches and mud splashes from that, he loves curling up in the seat dips though, can drive for hours like that

I bet that'd be cosy AF with a few dog blankets thrown in for good measure!

I bought a huge waterproof blanket from amazon. Pawsee Waterproof Dog Blanket for Couch, Washable Pet Couch Cover, Non-slip Bed Sofa Furniture Protector Mat 203 x 152 cm Grey https://amzn.eu/d/9K00XjJ

Cheap cushions in the seat hollows, waterproof blanket on top, tucked in at the top behind the seat back, foam bed on top cut to size to fit the space and a rectangular cushion on the transmission tunnel to give him somewhere to rest his head. Short lead clipped to isofix point attached to harness. I keep a small soft blanket in the rear footwell which I spread over the sill for entry and exit.
