Cancelled my Magnetite Grey 6AT that was due to land in the UK in 2 days time and instead, bought myself a Neptune Blue 6MT from Autotrader. Registered in February of this year it has 37 (delivery) miles on the clock and hasn't turned a wheel in anger since being transported, in a sealed trailer, from the Toyota dealership to its (now previous) owner's Detailing business premises. The photo below is from the original Autotrader advert and you can see that the car still has all of its plastic wrappings on the interior.

It must have been fate playing its part. Neptune being the ruler of the sea, me having spent around 15 years living and working in HMS Neptune on the West Coast of Scotland and it being the place from where I retired, to my home to Dunfermline, after 37 years' service in the Royal Navy.
In acknowledgement of its maritime links and my 10% Germanic DNA*, I name this car Njörðr (Njord), after the Nordic god of seafarers 🌊.
Just as well really, as it'll spend a lot of time getting rained upon up here in Scotland ...
Please be upstanding and welcome, '🔱 Laird Njörðr of Dunfermline' 👏

You’ve certainly been on a high seas journey to find yourself in a GR86! Back to a manual box too. Great colour choice! Enjoy your box of bits to fit (y)

You found a real gem there and bargain price. Looks stunning in that colour.

Lovely. Any insight as to why it was listed so cheap?
Yup. Having missed the original 'list', the seller had been told by Toyota that he was unlikely to get a GR86 until 2023/24 so in the meantime he went out and bought a new Civic Type R. Then, out of the blue, he was contacted in December by Toyota who said thay had a GR86 assigned to him. It arrived in February 23 and he bought it. Never drove it, just had it transported undercover to his detailing premises where, after being detailed, it has sat to this day, still with all the original wrappings on. In the end it was getting in the way and it was decided that he had to get rid of either the Type R or the GR, so with the Type R being better for his young family he decided to part with the GR86. He just needed rid - so that's where I came in ...

Shiny Blue (short teardrop) Gear Knob delivered today. My goodness it’s got some heft - “Wouldn’t like to get hit in the ear by that knob” declared SWMBO 🤨

Edit: Car now knobbed up!

Fitting the CC2s in 225s was the best thing I did to our car. I had a few early commutes from deepest rural Ayrshire to Glasgow around 6am beforehand and at subzero temps the PS4s were just in the end a summer tyre. The CC2s made the car enjoyable again. Oh, and fitting a black sphere gearknob from the same company just topped it off yesterday. 😁👍

I’ve decided to run with A/S tyres for (you guessed it) all seasons. I’m not going to bother swapping back to Summer tyres next year as I don’t drive the car hard enough, or need to take seconds off lap times. I ran CC2s all the time on my KonaN and never felt the need to go back to PZeros. I may go back to a 215 size for insurance purposes but that’s about all.

Cobra Sport (non-resonated) 2nd Cat-Back exhaust system fitted today. Linked below is a short comparison between the two; consisting of the Cold Start and the idle. I haven't done any revving as the engine has only done 98 miles and is still being run in.
Use Headphones for best effect.

Do you think it's noticeably louder than mine then ? (S'pose we can do a side by side in April !)

Hard to say, I reckon the difference would only be noticeable at higher revs (like in Cobra’s official videos) or when on the move. I can certainly hear it better in the cabin, more so as I have the ESG off.

Cold start is just obnoxious with any exhaust on this car. Aftermarket exhausts only exaggerate the problem.

But once warmed up, any car with an aftermarket exhaust sounds better than stock.

Road Hero spare wheel kit added. It’s kit RH118 from Carnoisseur, listed as GT86/GR86 (2012 on).
Install can be as simple as removing the loose centre polystyrene storage section and just dropping the bagged space saver into the well.
I chose to place a ‘cut-to-fit’ foam garage mat (Aldi) into the bottom of the wheel well and inserted a generic securing bolt through the material of the nylon carry bag into the threaded hole on the chassis. It’s worth noting that my £4 AliExpress securing bolt is a little too short and I could only get about 2 threads to bite. I’ve since ordered a longer one from ‘The Wheel Shop’ (eBay) at £12.
A compact tyre inflator from Amazon (£17) completes the holdall emergency kit and means I can leave the OEM gunk kit (in the loft) with the removed floor section.
Both the OEM boot carpet and my ‘Frogum Dry Zone’ TPE boot liner went back in with no lumps or bumps evident. The holdall is currently on a non-slip mat but will go into the cargo net when that arrives. Satisfies my need to have a spare wheel.
