In a fit of new year enthusiasm I’ve been looking at getting a car I don’t mind changing bits on myself and learning as I go (my mechanic skills are pretty non existent). I darent touch the GR for obvious reasons but wondered if anybody had experience of a T Sport both in driving and fixing up? It wouldn’t be anything major but more subtle changes.

I thought it might be fun to get one for lower speed fun akin to a Panda 100HP - was also inspired by reading this (though nothing near to the same extent):

Fun read

Not driven one but just bought a corolla t sport last week for the same reason to learn some mechanicals and a cheap daily. I did see a 2zz yaris t sport last month on ebay but it was an unfinished project and lack of mechanical knowledge stopped me biddng

Thats cool and exciting! I have similar concerns with some of the cars I've looked at buying, so perhaps I'm better to do a course or something first as I'd quite like to learn. Obviously if you're taking something on the road it needs to be safe though, so I suppose there is a balance for things which I could fix vs where it needs to be taken to a garage. I guess that as long as its structurally sound (no major rust) then that's a good way to narrow things down. And yeah its a great read, pretty much next level and building the car from scratch.
