I have had my Convenience Pack a month or so and have started poking about with the stereo. Sounds ok but I have pulled the door cards and pillars off to have a look at the speakers.

Has anyone changed the dash top mid speakers? Thinking about going for the Focal IS165TOY kit and adding a mid range as they seem to do most of the work. Not interested in changing the amp yet. I have sound deadened the doors whilst it was off and that made a big difference.

Update - I have now replaced front and back 16.5cm speakers with the Focal upgrade and sound deadened the back of the car. Sounds so much better that the stock JBL, much clearer and richer sound. Just the dash top mids to go - I will keep looking - might need to order some 70-80cm drivers and play around.

As a fellow conv pack owner, I'll watch this thread with interest

My car came with the JBL system. For me, the sound is OK, it's the fact that it mostly seems to come from the front, and using the fader to increase the rear just makes it sound muffled...

Whatever. Racecar :)

Yes, the JBL stereo is fairly tinny and disappointing. (Convenience pack here too)

" it mostly seems to come from the front, and using the fader to increase the rear just makes it sound muffled..."

Yup. Impossible to get a decent balance/fader setting.

Any further progress @Denburyboy ?

I replaced the standard radio with a android head unit and had the equaliser adjusted when fitted and that alone made a good difference

That would make sense as you could compensate with the equaliser for any non linear speaker response.

Does your car have the lights by the interior door handles?

I would start with replacing the front speakers (and tweeters) only with the Focal units, I've read many owners say upgrading the rear ones makes little improvement.

I fitted the Focal IS TOY fronts, it was pretty simple. This video shows how (they missed a bolt holding in the door card, but you'll soon find it):
