GR86 Insurance

I came searching for this thread after and interesting call with my insurer... (Adrian Flux)

Current fleet is a Westfield, - 6 years NCB - about £130 a year.

Silly modified Hilux, Lexus VVTi V8 swap, totally changed suspension, brakes, wheels tyres, crammed A4 page of declared modifications and utterly terrifying to drive, - 17 years NCB - £550ish. Including commuting to multiple sites for work

Perpetually broken Camaro that I've not even driven myself yet isn't insured :ROFLMAO:

Stock GR86? - Even with the no claims robbed from the Westfield. - £2500!
I'm 43, live in sleepy south Oxfordshire, no points.

Luckily Admiral came in at £575 for the "gold" policy. Including an exhaust. - would have been nice to keep everything from one supplier though.
Morning! just out of interest, did you give us a call to have a look at a quotation through us? we would love to be able to have a look at a quote for you to see what we can do!

Thanks

Ben

Crazy, isn't it. My LV Multi Car (2 cars) insurance renews this week was up 38% on last year. When I called them wanting to remove one car and add an 86 they quoted me in excess of £2000 rather than the £550 i was paying.
Be sure to give us a call as well if it's still due for renewal! we offer a very high level of cover, covering all mods on a like for like basis!

Best number to call would be 01635 874646!

Thanks

Ben

Thanks Ben, I just called,

Unfortunately for a like for like comparison including the other half and stated milage it was well over twice the price!
Removing her and reducing milage it was closer but still more.

I’m 36 and male (not that it makes any difference these days I don’t think?) was £580 with Admiral (and cheapest on many comparison sites) but managed to add my car to Admiral Home Insurance and got a discount down to £380 which was surprising.

My old 2007 3.0si Z4 was only £205 for comparison.

Ah, that's a shame! we do always try to do the best we can but sometimes we just aren't as competitive as we would like to be!

What I would say is don't let that put you off trying us again next year or for any other vehicles you have/are going to buy!

Appreciate you giving us a call!

Cheers

In my online searches I have noticed that the insurance for a 6MT quotes considerably more expensive than the 6AT :(. So, having seen them mentioned previously, I thought I'd get a quote from Swiftcover for my recently aquired 6MT and I have to say that I was impressed.
Not only were they cheaper than a certain Meerkat's results but, they also cover a number of 'modifications' as standard (eg., stainless steel exhaust) so there is no requirement to add them!
Their quote for a 72 plate 6MT, 10k P/A, 58yo with 11y NCD, plus modded exhaust came in at £491. The only downside was a £500 compulsory excess. The closest I could get within the Meerkat's engine was £586 with a £400 (v100/c300) excess.
Quotes without mods obviously come in cheaper (£485 from the RAC+) but, with a modded exhaust included in the price Swiftcover seems to have come out quite well 👏

The AT is six groups lower (39 vs 45) - obviously less performant than the MT, but it also has the extra 'safety' systems.

After a chat with our new friends at @HowdenSpecialistInsurance I managed to get FC insurance at £400, that's including my 'cosmetic' 💋 modified exhaust (their words not mine), a 2ch 4K Blackvue Dashcam, with a £250 excess. Also thrown in, was a FOC policy update for when I get the new V5 and assign my personal registration plate. Now that really will do nicely! :D

They quoted double for me!

Admiral renewal quote through this morning... Up 45% :ROFLMAO: Absolute crooks, that's got my back up! Time to shop about and make sure they don't get my business again🖕
I think you might find the market has gone up considerably in general, not just Admiral.

Got my Admiral renewal this morning - GR86 and shed

GR86 went up from 430 to 573 which is OKish given the market (and includes wheels/PPF and spoiler)
Shed went up from 130 to 300 which is not OK

But I was expecting a bigger shock. I too will have a look elsewhere.

Oh yeah, well aware of that but case in point... @grisszoo86 has seen a 33% increase with the same insurer, very similar starting figures and we're even fairly local to eachother so little rhyme or reason there (n)

Got my home insurance down to a 5% increase last month so the challenge is on!

That would be a good result for the s***show that is Uk motor insurance at the moment! Granted, it’s not easy to work out an insurers pricing strategy and no two risks are the same so difficult to comment on individual cases. I will no doubt be just as grumpy at my renewal when I get it next year, but the losses for insurers are real.
