Given what seems to be a lack of the above in the UK, has anyone tried to upgrade to having them?
I might be incorrectly assuming that the steering wheel and seats are surely the same worldwide, the looms also, but the switches are missing. Does anyone have any experience of making this upgrade please?

People did on the mk1 (can’t remember if it was wheel, seats or both).

It’s not a lack more in keeping with its lightweight nature đŸ«£

And unless the heating elements in the new car are hugely improved, there's not a huge benefit in having them as they are so weak.

The steering wheel, on the other hard, is brilliant. Heats up in seconds and gets super toasty. Very nice

I have used the heated seats once in 4 years. Turned it off after about 5 minutes.
Then again, 6 C is bloody freezing here. A cold winters day is around 10-12 C but perfect turbo weather for a blast.

This. Even when it's -20 degrees c outside in winter here, it's only the heated steering wheel I use and only until its warmed up as it does get toasty. GR Yaris heats up nicely inside pretty quickly too I find with the heated windscreen blower function on.

They're actually quite decent. I'm now without heated seat as was saving money with spartan Boes console version but I've seen worse heaters than GR Yari's.
Proper way to heat the cabinet would be to run the exhaust in same way as in Rally1 cars but that's another story

Would you all agree about the loom, seats and wheel being the same globally? Wondering if it is as straightforward and switches.

Models with lower seat heating assy (87510L) element seems to be
GXPA16..LHD..6F..EUR
GXPA16..LHD..EUR
GXPA16..CHI

what spec do you have?

See EPC parts manual from page 630 onwards.

I retrofitted heated steering wheel and heated seats on my gen1 circuit pack and gen2 car. It is a French market car and the wiring from behind the dash to underneath the seats is already in place. This means for the install you just need to install and connect the heated seat cushions under the seat covers, plus install the switches. Not that difficult. I advise you to check under you seats if you have the wiring / connectors there for the heated seats. I can give more detailed help if needed.

Would someone mind doing me a real big favour please?
I was looking under the seats in my GRY earlier and it appears to have 3 plugs already connected up with one more plug on the seat but unconnected.
Would someone (preferably with a Gen2 with heated seats) mind taking a picture of the plugs underneath their seats please?
Cheers.

As above, I retrofitted heated seats and wheel on gen 1 and gen2 car 2, pics under the seats:

This is my gen 2 seat. The white connector with no cable is what you have with no heated seat elements, you remove that and when you install the heated seat elements, you replace it with the black connector that is wired on them.

Here is my gen 1 seat with lowering brackets and you can see the black connector and wire going to the seat element:

On both my gen 1 and gen 2, car it was prewired with a cable coming into the white connector from the heated seats switch wiring loom. This meant that I just needed to install the switches and the heated seat elements.

Thank you for that! I think I will look in to getting the heating elements.

Check you have the cables arriving at the seats first and also behind the center console for the switches
I will do that before anything else. Just waiting for some reasonable weather. On a scale of 1-10 how challenging was it to install the elements?

I would rate is around a 5-6. The most complicated aspect is removing the plastic trim on the side of the drivers seat with the height adjustment handle. The rest is quite straight forward, you just need to take your time.
