One for the 'technicians'....
It seems Toyota main dealers now want to put 0W-20 oil in everything, even though the GRMN user manual specifies 5W-40.
Can anyone cast any light on this? Should I be concerned? I've done 6 miles on the new oil so far.
Last years service, and all the others, was the 5W-40, this years service 0W-20....... Apparently something to do with modern oil additives taking up the slack, so to speak, and with 'emissions/mpg/otherstuff',
What does the community think about this?

Howdy Sekred,
Thanks for your reply, yes I am referring to the 2018 Yaris 1.8 GRMN supercharged 2ZR.
Do you know anything about this. I have heard its something to do with projected emissions/mpg regulations, possibly from EU .....?

I would stick with the 5W-40 or even a 0W-30 or a 5W-30 myself.

Thanks for your reply, I'll run it for a couple of months over winter cold temps, then swap it out for a slightly heavier grade.
