I also ended up with silver, but half wanted the blue. It just wasn't available when I ordered, despite ordering months earlier than the latest lot. Silver is nice though.
Was it the lighter Electric Blue you were considering? My choice was between blue (sapphire) and silver.

Electric Blue would have been my choice, but it wasn't available this year full stop (only for those who ordered in the first batch, which I think was one day only). So with the colours available this year, I was going to order Sapphire, but they messed up my order and when I got my chance, it had gone. So I ordered silver. Then when it came to confirming it, that too had gone! Typical Toyota Online farce. So I ordered white. I was later able to change this to silver. I never really had the chance to order Sapphire, but I thought silver was good too, so stuck with it.

In the end I bought the used silver, and cancelled my order.

Electric Blue is my favourite though.

We’ve all got GR86’s at the end of the day and that’s something :)

It has taken until earlier this week to fix the scratch, which is a really nice repair and not visible to me. I was hoping for collection at the end of this week, and then had a call yesterday to say that the PDI showed up a small dent that needs fixing. Not the end of the world, I suppose, as I'm in no rush.

During this conversation, the dealer told me that they had fitted the plates - my own plate, which is a nice 5 digit plate with the only number as a 1. When I visited 2 weeks ago, I asked for the rear plate to be stuck on so that I could shorten it to suit the plate script and now I find out that it's been drilled, but not using the official drilling points. So now I'd be stuck with a plate that I'm not happy with. In the end, I stuck with the online order because I wanted the colour and didn't want to compromise to save some money. Suddenly, I'm waiting for a second repair and I'm going to have to look at this horrible plate fixing for the life of the car. Am I being picky here? This feels like the last straw to me.

I would just get the car and enjoy it, life is too short.
Once you've run it in and pushed it down a few B roads, you'll realise it's not that important.

My problem is that I stuck with my full price order because I wanted to get exactly what I wanted. If I don't really care, I can buy one of the new release cars and save some cash. The second repair (another 10 days) and number plate has pushed me over the edge. I've cancelled and will wait and see what happens next. I'm in no rush anyway.

I'm surprised you didn't check to see if you could get one of the cheaper ones in a colour you're happy with before cancelling. I hope you can get something you're happy with.

I don’t think you’re being pedantic. I felt exactly the same way, my plates were drilled too which was annoying AF as I explicitly stated not to. It was the little things building up. I cancelled and returned in the end for another reason, but these were always things annoying me. But now I feel no regret and life is easier without the car, my head is clearer and don’t need the car to worry about too at this moment in time.

Will it annoy you knowing it was repaired and the plates are drilled? You had 14 days to reject anyway if you were just annoyed about it.

Too many things adding up for me, the plates was just the final one. I'm super busy at work and having to deal with crap all the time and I've lost patience dealing with the Toyota crap.

Glad you're a bit steadier now, sometimes hard decisions need to be made.

It never ceases to amaze me how many dealerships don't listen to their customers' requests. If you've asked for plates not to be drilled then they shouldn't be ramming home self tappers into brand new panels! I bet underneath the plates will be flaked paint and potential rust spots around the holes due to their outdated practices - it's not the 1970s; modern 3M tape is bloody strong stuff if used correctly. Honestly, they (dealers) grip my s**t sometimes.

It's a plastic bumper so it won't rust, but I understand the OP wanted to fit a smaller shortened plate, so the holes would spoil that.

I do sympathise with dealers a bit, they can't win, if they'd stuck them on with 3m tape, someone would complain they cant take them off easily, and the paint might peel off...lol

I would urge people to see past the minutae and enjoy this car, it looks great and is great to hussle down a B road.

If they had used the official screw fixing points (dimples in the rear panel), that would have been OK.

Mine was the worst. Asked for them to not drill, they drilled.... but they realised their mistake and made up new plates and stuck them on, with way too much double sided, took me ages to get the plates off.

Spoke to TOL they said they clearly notified the hand over dealer and I even confirmed directly with the dealer.

If they drilled it was bad enough but to try and hide their mistake.....

Front plate I'm not bothered as I use JDM size plinth but the rear I changed to custom size. Luckily the holes just managed to get covered.

In the end I got (screwed) goodwill out of them. A USA spec dimming rear view mirror and mud flaps....HOWEVER, mudflaps still have not arrived and no longer answering my emails...

Steven Eagell Watford is the offending dealer.

This has been a bit of a rubbish experience.

Zero communication and the website didn't update with the status of the order. I just got a 'your car is at the dealer' email. They say that the updates should have changed and don't know why they didn't.

Went to pick the car up, got a phone call just before arriving to say the car wouldn't start as a resistor had blown.

Still no car....
