GR86 GR86- Cars for sale - General Discussion

Seller was a bit daft there with the reserve. Lower than WBAC et al 🤷‍♂️

Collecting Cars put very strong pressure on you to list without a reserve. If you do go for a reserve, further pressure then comes before the auction to lower, or drop it completely.

All CC care about is the car selling so they get their fees. If it doesn’t sell - no fees for them.

There was no reserve 😲

Contemplating selling mine however the car has done 34k miles and not sure what people would be interested at pricing wise. Does £23,500 - £24,000 seem reasonable? It’s a Neptune/electric blue one if that makes a difference…

Have you enhanced the service frequency, as in milage servicing rather than yearly?

Just trying to add some positives to a high mile car, if its acne central or showing the miles you price still seems low. Only you know how good or bad it is, but I’ d be tempted to push the price up, see if you can clear £26k, starting at £27k.

Yes I have, it’s had 3 services at every 10k. Car is immaculate apart from usual stone chips, but nothing excessive.

Being realistic, you’re not going to get £26 - £27k for that at that mileage when you can pretty much get into one at that price with less than 10k miles. I think £23k to £24k is more realistic in this market. It’s pretty tough, as anyone trying to sell a car at the moment will know.

I think if you price it at the £23-£24k mark you will attract the track day guys and gals, they won't worry too much about the mileage, they just want a weekend track day toy they can mod for the track. It's more cost effective for them to buy a cheaper higher miles car. GLWTS (y)

Good to hear it's still good after 34k, good luck with the sale. Your suggested price seems fair

I wonder if Light Blue GR86 owners hold onto theirs for a little longer? Currently of the 36 on AutoTrader only One is light blue. That car seems to have been on AT for ages though - could be because it’s located bloody miles from anywhere, tucked up in Lochgilphead of course 🙂.

I passed an electric blue car on the back of a lorry heading south on the M74 this afternoon. Unusual to see cars heading down the road. Wonder if it was the lochgilphead one.

Any thoughts on my car ad, pricing etc? I think it's a really fair price, but have only had one enquiry and a silly offer!

My job is turning into lots of motorway trips, so a comfy diesel is needed
Hi Callahan, the car looks very nice and I think the price is very reasonable, for buyers it might take a while, some economist friends are saying a lot of people are very worried about how much shafting the autumn budget will include. I suspect people with £30k for a sports car cash/loan might be waiting for this or it could be a slow sales market given the summer holidays are over and people are back to work etc
One thing maybe to clarify would be the servicing, you mention year 3 on the warranty if serviced by Toyota, but the interim and 1st service are non dealer so assuming that does not impact the warranty then might be worth clarifying/confirming on the advert?

Good point, thanks. I've added a note on the advert thread here and updated the Pistonheads ad to clarify.

I'm in no rush to sell (to put it mildly) but also don't want to add too many more miles, so the 26 year old Alfa is keeping busy until the new diesel arrives....

I think the non Toyota servicing may be against you when it comes to resale
I appreciate that a specialist will no doubt do a better job and use genuine Toyota parts but if I was buying a near £30k year old car I would want dealer servicing purely because if there is a big warranty claim in years to come Toyota will try to wriggle out of it saying its down to the specialist who done the early servicing and the onus of proof to confirm the correct parts and service procedures was adhered to would be on the owner - a lot of hassle when they can't quibble if its a full Toyota service history, I think its narrowing down your potential buyers to people who wouldn't worry about this.
Only my fourpenny worth of course

I sold my 73 plate yesterday (collection on Saturday) for £27,600 with ~8k miles, no PPF or Ceramic.. two areas that need to be addressed with paint (a stone chip that I f*cked up trying to flatten the clear coat from the touch up kit and the small plastic rear wheel arch extender that some kind person scraped with a shopping trolley) that would cost ~£450 to get sorted professionally.. I’d have expected to get the £28k asking price otherwise so.. long story short., I think yours is fairly priced..

I included a VW compatible space saver, Jack and hub spacers, rubber mats and boot liner but in all honesty these wouldn’t have given me a huge return if I’d try to sell them..

Fair point. I know a specialist would do a better job than 90% of main dealers who just get the YTS boy to do it, but I can see that other people might not feel the same way.
