This is the rally version of the current GR Yaris. Closer than the Rally1 car anyway. This Rally2 car uses the 3cyl engine.

And the body, more or less (instead of a spaceframe/silhouette as in Rally 1)

Making me want to go to Monte Carlo next month.. but will wait to see it in action in Latvia and Finland later in the year when the weather is nicer.

I really wish there would be similar body kit for the street version. Make it an all new factory made edition if you have to but damn the car looks great this way and I wouldn't call it too crazy for the street. At least body wise.

We're planning a TGR WRT visit in few weeks to see new Rally2 car in flesh. It surely is quite exciting package as it roots more technically to actual GR Yaris than those Rally1 weapons.

Might watch more Rally2 now just because of this. Series just got a lot more interesting and, dear say it, relevant to actual cars we mere mortals drive. Or if very ambitious, could actually buy and race too... none of which applies for Rally1.

Will be interesting to see how it does against the well developped Fabia....

I read today they aready sold 150 of them, so they will be very visible in the coming years!

Wonder if they will keep the mk1 aesthetic or switch to the 'new' 2024 "mk1.5/2" one...

Its rather crazy how well that car sold with no proof of its pace. Folks seem to trust Toyota. But it will surely bring more good credit for GR Yaris as a whole

Strangely, I think I know which car it is! There was a White Circuit pack German import up for sale for a while last year here with protrack wheels - I was debating buying a second hand one while waiting for mine so kept an eye out for a good one. This was sold a few months back.. I suspect this is where it has gone. Pretty cool it is actually built from a road car!! All the recce cars were from Estonia then removed from registry and moved to Finland.

Toyota Gazoo had a workshop here in Tallinn until a few years back (part of Tommi Mäkinen Motorsport) which is now leased out to a Toyota Dealership (Amserv) when Tommi and Toyota parted ways and the operation moved to Finland.

It should be car number 12621, August 2021 build, confirmed German import to Estonia and left the country in November.

I did more digging.. appears it’s not the Estonian car built into a rally 2. I guess the GR Yaris from Estonia was purchased as a recce car.

But strangely they are using the Estonian registration plate on the Rally 2 car for test?? As I see on Burtons Facebook page. Even though it’s been removed from register here and no longer a usable VRN.
