GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Oh I didn't realise that, I thought it was Akido, his love of being a petrolhead meant he couldn't take Toyota where it needed to go.
Too early to say anything definitive about the mk2 imho, could still come.
That said, no single CEO or president can by themselves decide the whole global company direction

This just came up as an advert on my instagram. Pretty sure it’s just a GR Yaris picture applied to the wrong model (GR Sport and 1.5 CVT as well) but interesting colour to use. Also might be imagining it and have subconscious bias or it’s due to the colour and the reflection but some of the curves look mildly different eg extra dip on rear arch, bonnet drop off is sharper - maybe the new model is just a GR sport version.

Obviously a mixup. They seem to have fixed it now.

As an aside, that seems crazy money! I know it was a few years ago but in 2016 my wife got a Polo GTI on a 3+35 for £180, inc. maintenance. How things have changed…

Hah I thought so. The site is a bit all over the place. Quite a cool colour though, had considered getting mine wrapped like that til
I learned of the cost.

Definitely overthinking this but I’m at the point where I bet 50p this is a new version uploaded to that site early by accident. Eg see these bits on the bumper vs my car (white 22 plate), surely that’s not a trick of the light? Edit: Also the mirror caps not being black as with the rear spoiler and the rear arch looks slightly more Corolla like with that extra curve. I've never seen this sort of render before.

Its possibly a render taken from Gran Turismo in light of the grille parts, but still looks real - maybe Japanese version of the car (see here:

Brakes don’t look much like a proper GR Yaris so assumed it was a picture of the Japanese RS version. The one that seemed to convince a few that we were going to see an Auto version in Europe soon,

That makes sense and I think there is a 1.5l Japanese one, possibly got mixed up when they looked for a picture. Plus the Gran Turismo one is modelled on the Japan market rather than elsewhere. I think those bits I circled on the grille are parking sensors but it’s then got the circuit pack wheels so definitely not Europe spec.

To be honest it looks like a composite photoshop to me. I'm sure it's possible to do a lot of this in the livery editor in something like GT7, but stuff like under body is different at the same angles in GT7 (that little rubber flap in front of the rear wheel is missing in that image, as well as underbody bits from GT7 too).

I'm confused with the grill parts comparison, both those look identical to me.

To me, I think it's a photoshop of a GR Yaris RZ , where they've shifted a bunch of the colours to blue, removed some bits to clean up the look, changed the colour of the roof to blue... I think there must have been some artefacting around the front parking sensors, as there should be one on the front grille, just between the blank plate above the fog light, and the duct. Defo not an RS though.

Interesting, there’s about 300 cars left on the 25,000 run according to my numbers. However, I suspect that run number might go over 25,000 as it’s likely to include development cars.

That Germany model is curious. They’re asking folk to pony up for a ~10% premium over the nominal list for a High Performance, but don’t specify what the tuning upgrades are?

You’d think they’d have that nailed down before doing the comms.

I’m sure they’ll sell ‘em all no problem, but it’s another baffling marketing decision from Toyota.

at least in their Kinto program customer was able to opt for engine power, steering assistance and powertrain balance. not sure though what options this include.

I suspect they’ve been struggling to sell cars in Germany and have some dead Stocks that they’re trying to get rid of an easy way to do that is to offer a factory upgrade which is already offered in Japan.
