I collected mine yesterday and brimmed the tank, Ive covered 226 miles and fuel gauge was showing 1 bar under half a tank, range was showing only 88 miles.
So on the way home I stopped at the same garage and brimmed the tank again...27 litres near enough, range showed 245 miles.
Am I correct in thinking it's a 50 litre tank? I used an MPG calculator when I got home and it had averaged 38 mpg (a lot more than I expected!!)
Has anyone else seen that the range is off.....it might be my maths to be fair!!

Yeah the range calculator is way off i have found too.

I’be had it drop down to supposedly only 28 miles left in the tank - but the fuel tank warning light still doesn’t light up (i assume there is one).

When filling it up, then only got 30 something litres in. All literature i’ve seen suggests it is a 50 litre tank.

Thanks for that Tony
i read the US spec and it said it was 13.2 US gallons, which is 50 litres
I wonder if it’s calculating on US gallons not Imperial ones 🤔

It's been pretty close for me. I'm tracking with Fuelly and it's pretty close. Lot of local driving and I'm at 27mpg. I'd only say it was in accurate if you're off throttle downhill for a while and you get an unrealistic figure. But always seems to balance out

As I put a few more miles on (400 now) it seems to be balancing out a bit more, its saying that Im doing 32 mpg, based on fill up today I make it 34 based on 21.5 litres and 161 miles covered....range still seems well off though considering its a 50 litre tank, it was showing 128 miles and I still had 28 litres left!! Fuel gauge was 1 bar above half.

I've been trying to make sense of the remaining range and fuel indicators recently and came to the below observations:
  • Reserve fuel is around 5-7.5 litres or 10-15% of the 50l tank
  • Each bar on the fuel indicator relates to the remaining 45l, working out at around 3-5-3.75l per bar
  • The remaining range is calculated off the average fuel consumption or last fill up, not your current fuel economy, so may lag behind your current usage if making improvements to the fuel efficiency
  • The remaining range only takes into account the fuel above reserve level when working out your approximate distance to "empty"
These observations are probably all wrong but worth testing either way.

Thanks for this Beorg
It certainly makes sense, there is certainly a high degree of newness and it working itself as it covers more miles.
Curiously when I picked it up it had 1 bar of fuel only (Thanks Toyota!!) and no warning light of low fuel that I could see.

Low fuel light "on" first time in three months of ownership. Driven over the same roads, I have consistently run the car to last bar before refuelling with Tesco Momentum or Shell V-power. Range varied from 9 miles to 20 miles remaining. It would take 39l to 40l to fill up (first click). Range after refuelling keeps creeping up, from 259 miles to todays 299 miles. Car is still trying to work out actual fuel consumption.

Thanks for this, Im at 1200 miles now and finding much the same, I had a 150 mile round trip for work on Monday and set off with a full tank and then filled up on the way home again so I had enough for the rest of the week...I calculated it that it had done 40.4 mpg which I was very impressed with on a run.
