GR86 Engine rebuild video from Misha

Don't believe him, RTV is not the problem
He raced that car in the ring multiple times, he starved the engine of oil as he is not sympathetic to cars, he has said it himself, he is not a mechanic but a driver....
Overfill a bit, oil cooler and a sump baffle is what the GR cups run and they have been completely fine

He had also already opened the sump to put that baffle in so shouldn't be complaining about the oem RTV.....

I was thinking that it had been opened if it had a baffled sump

From the GR challenge races in China and Macau, the gear box seems to be the weak link.

I don't think anyone would be needing to claim on the Toyota warranty if all the car ever saw was road use and say a couple of track days per year.

A standard car wouldn't not be able to generate the physical grip that will enable you to run that much throttle around a track.

Once you start modifying for serious track work, that's when the other components will start to fail as they as not designed for this amount of duty.

Doesn't do a lot for the anxiety levels, does it?

Seems a very good reason to keep the warranty up or to do some preventative work.
The problem with preventative work is that most of the works would give Toyota a reason to invalidate your warranty. So you are in a catch 22 situation.

My car has just turned 1 and been getting letters from the dealer for the annual service. However, I doubt my car will ever see a Toyota dealer let alone be able to claim on the warranty!

Being ex trade and DIY, I know the up keep of my track day toy is far beyond any recommended schedule from Toyota.

My issue will be finding good garages to do work on it. Some stuff I'll do but I know my limits. Unless I save up all the bits and do them in one hit by doing a pilgrimage to somewhere like Fensport or TD. I'm not doing anything serious until the PCP ends and I decide to pay it off. If nothing untoward happens in that period then I'll keep it. If not then it's gone.

Plus I wouldn't trust what he says. He's just generating clicks and he's not sympathetic on a car.
