GR86 Driver Seat Side Bolsters- How To prevent wear?

I'd hope so! My last car was out of warranty before being bad enough to do anything about it, so I would say just go to them and kick up a fuss while you can and maybe they can sort it. If you do, let us know how you get on.

I've got into the habit of lowering myself into the car with my right hand behind me holding the bolster, so for now (about 11k miles) it still looks okay. But I can still see it degrading over time.
Holding the bolster as you get in is a great idea! It's nigh impossible to enter the car without brushing the side of the seat, but getting out is more straightforward if you put both feet on the ground at the same time. What long-term wear that actually puts on the seat base as you swivel around is another matter of course...

Left leg in, as you start bend down to put your arse on the seat, put your right hand on the sill. This give you enough leverage to avoid falling backwards and scraping the bolster.

It's the same with leathers on a motorbike. Wherever they contact the bike they inevitably chafe and wear. I got my first set recently and within a few rides they were wearing by the knees where I grip onto the tank.

My problem is inside the bloody driver's side door which I occasionally catch with my foot when some soppybollocks has parked too close to me, making elegant extraction difficult.

A problem for another time and another thread, perhaps.

I'm sure someone on here will have successfully covered the seats in 2 layers of PPF and ceramic coating 😛

Same here. So much so that I ordered some carbon fibre lower door panel protection from Ali Express. However, I haven't had the courage to apply it yet as instead of the reverse surface being self-adhesive, it's covered with 55 pieces of narrow double-sided tape 🙄 and needs a second person to help hold it too.

This is exactly the technique I use.

I genuinely don't like taking apssengers and I fear they won't "get in an out properly".

New car OCD is rubbish.

Still not as bad as my E46 M3 with its lovely but oh so delicate Nappa seats. - jeans with metal bits were banned.

Oh yes - each passenger gets a briefing of not scuffing the hell out of the plastics/seat. Even worse in the Elise - only approved passengers permitted 🫣 🤦‍♂️

Very much first world problems, and any outsider reading this forum will instantly realise how odd we all are!
