Hi all, was the victim of a very ill seagull this week while parked at work. At worst its maybe sat baking in the sun for 5 or 6 hours. Took quite a while to get off.

Unfortunately even after a full proper wash today it seems either the residue is still stuck on or, what I fear, is that it's gone straight through the clear coat. This is the worst bit but same thing has happened in the other areas the poo was stuck on. It's really noticeable as it's quite matte in appearance in contrast to the glossy paint.

Anyone have any tips on products to use (polish, wax, clay etc.) or am I looking at taking it to a pro? If so would a ceramic coating/PPF prevent similar things in the future? Had been considering one or both of those anyway. Cheers!

I've had a similar problem, discussed it over on the other forum. :)

Have found Meguirs Ultimate Compound to be very effective without being too harsh.

Will definitely look at that when I get round to giving the whole car a proper polish, cheers!

I've actually managed to get rid of the residue thanks to a random YouTube video I stumbled upon about using a heat gun. As I didn't have one I gave the Dyson hairdryer a try. All gone! Think I've probably got lucky as it was only on the car for a day or two.

Must be the time of the year. Got the exact same issue but less. I've got a heat gun so might give it a try...
