I need to carry a minimum of two bikes, just not inside the car.

Are there any rear door racks that are proven to work fine?

Anyone attempted to use the Thule OutWay Hanging 3-Bike Rack on the GR Yaris?

Thanks

Have looked at Thule bike rack that fits on rear hatch but problem is the hatch is aluminium and the window glass makes or very difficult to attach the frame via its straps to metal! Not sure if the glass would stand up to flexing of Laod cantilevered out over back of car .
My advice get Thule racks and bike attachment which is OK but makes the hatch difficult to open. Bit the hatch rack makes it impossible to open.!!

No problem if the hatch won't open, as I can access the boot from the inside. However, what did you mean by "bike attachment" please? Is the a product name or link you can share? Thanks

If you look at posts for roof bars on this site there is a discussion re bars and pictures of the Thule bike rack !

Did somebody manage to put Thule OutWay Hanging 3 ?

Yes, I bought one new & managed to put it on the GR Yaris (1st generation).

It seemed fine & secure, with straps going through the rear door hinges, so that the rack doesn't only rely on the rear gloss black spoiler staying in place.

However, I never used it to drive with it or with bikes on it too. So, I don't know if the rear spoiler would hold, if there would be any damage to the lip of the rear door near the bumper or the bumper itself.

(In fact, I might put the rack for sale, due to never using it.)

So when the strap goes thru the hinges, does it still put pressure on the wing?
DM with asking price :)

A word of warning for those boot/hatch mount bicycle racks.

They can barely hold any weight, so mountain bikes and any e-bikes are instantly out. You will also struggle to get more than one bike on them.

You are better off spending the money on roof racks.
