Hi All,

So my aliexpress special spoiler has finally arrived, took around 3 months as I went the cheapest option.

I'm not going to drill but will stick in, I've ditched the included sticky stuff and bought some proper 3M tape on advice from forum member when reading up.
The included instructions says to install between 21 to 28 degrees Celsius - not sure I'll be getting those temperatures.

Anyone else done a sticky install, I've checked and it fits, I was planning to put the sticky stuff on the spoiler first and then apply to car rather then other way round.
Not sure how to get best contact.
Advice appreciated?(y)

See my members’ cars thread here. Use proper primer for best effect. Put plenty of tape on the spoiler first and let it set properly for a while (I left it for 24 hours before fitting to the car). The spoiler was prepared indoors where the temperature was easily over 21c and the final install on a warm sunny day, again around 20c, but panel was probably closer to 28c with the sun on it.
If I could do it again, I’d use additional strips along the rear and add some diagonals or pads in the center areas for greater contact (see photo). Don’t block any holes as they are there to allow for expansion gases to escape when it gets hot, otherwise the spoiler may crack.
Is your car ceramic coated btw? As this makes it a bit more complex - DA polishing, IPA cleanse and primers.

Thanks so much for this, it's a great help, especially those extra areas and leaving it overnight.
No ceramic for me.
Cheers.

No ceramic for me.
That's okay then. Mine had a 5yr Ceramic on it, which makes it almost impossible for anything to stick as it can't get a molecular bond to the surface.
For your tailgate, without any Ceramic Coating, you'll be okay with a decent Panel Wipe Spray to get rid of any waxes and oils etc., or Isoprop' alcohol (I got 1L of 99.99% on Amazon for £8), followed by the use of some Primer Wipes along the areas of potential contact (I got my Primer from AliExpress).
As for fitting, use whatever method is best for you and FFS take your time! I used masking tape to mark where the spoiler was going to align on the tailgate; then I changed my mind and went for the 'pivot' method as I was too nervous about just dropping it into position.
When that backing tape comes off the 3M you've got one chance to get it right; so check and double check before applying any pressure whatsoever.🥸

Good Luck my friend! 🍀

Thanks for all the tips, finally got the weather to install.
Used plenty of sticky and went with @Sonic alcohol clean and "pivot":)
I like the carbon weave look, the good thing is that you can actually see the spoiler in your rear view mirror!

I like the carbon fibre option (had one very similar on my Alfa Giulia). Do you have a link to the Chinese website of choice for this item ?
