Not been on for a while, but I've seen the new mx5 spec has now been released and the new configurator, etc. Is all now live. I thought that it might be of interest to some of you. Spec sheet attached and further details below.

The rf Homura is now just about the most perfect factory / oem spec of mx5 for me. It has the usual lsd (although now a new type), strutbrace, BBS, Bilstein, Brembo bits of the 2023 Homura, but now also has the Recaro seats that have always been reserved for the limited editions in the UK. I really love this car, but won't be selling the GR86 just yet. 🤣🤣.

But it could just about be part of a perfect 3 car setup for me and the wife. Okay, maybe 4....

I managed to go north of £42,000 with some extras!
I don't think that they are that expensive though, when you consider the engineering behind them and when there are fairly run of the mill hatches in the 20-30's now. They also have some low finance deals, in fact 0% if you have a 50% deposit. And you can get 4-5k off too by going onto drive the deal. I've been looking at the rf and you can get the 1.5 Prime-line for just under 26K. Or a 2.0 Homura for just over 32K. These prices include a 750 loyalty discount for having a Mazda already, (we also have a Mazda2 in the household for one of the boys), so that'll do. 👍

Oh, looks like I'm looking too seriously into this. 🤣

How do these compare in driving dynamics to a GR86? They normally seem to be driven by a retired couple as their fun car.
MX5 is a softer than the 86, far easier to drive smoothly, the 86 is more focussed and harder edged. Massive after market for the MX5 to turn it into a track weapon if that is what you are after, everything from £300 ecu tuneups to engine swaps, seen a V8 in a NA. So tempted to upgrade my ND1 to the latest one as it must surely be the last pure ICE version of it before a mk5 comes out with no doubt some form of electrification and weight penalty.

@OPC100 why did you have to mention 0% finance!!! Off to the configurator!

Yeah, all good points. Just think it’s lost sight of itself now, the top models seem more about adding luxury and appealing to the retirement age drivers than going back to what the car was originally about. I do still like the look of them, especially in Soul Red. Think it makes a 30k-ish GR look like great value though.

Being very restrained I got to £36k++, there were quite a few items I would have ticked but I thought nah, I can get that off Aliexpress for 90% less :ROFLMAO:

Just under £25k mine cost me 8 years ago this month, and it may well be worth about half of that now which isn't bad going for 8 years.

ETA: it has an alarm too (too soon?)
